 HOW TO RESIDENTIAL CARPET CLEANING

Carpet Cleaning basics - for professional carpet cleaners

We will limit our discussion of residential carpet cleaning to the most common types of carpet found in homes and refer you to Other brochures and resources for the carpets that we consider “specialty” carpets. The most common style of residential carpet Is a cut-pile made from synthetic fibers. By far the most popular Fiber is nylon but olefin is also common. You will also encounter some polyester and acrylics. Specialty carpets include area rugs, Woven or tufted wool and cotton face yarns. Berber carpets are also discussed in a separate brochure.

Virtually every residential nylon carpet that you see will be protected With stain resist technology. This keeps the carpet from Being soiled and stained easily, but no carpet is completely stain-proof. In order to maintain the effectiveness of the stain And soil resistance you should follow certain guidelines. Going outside these guidelines can cause damage to the protective coating and even result in warranties being voided. The recommendations

That follow will keep you within these parameters And produce excellent results.

First before you start cleaning

Begin by vacuuming the carpet to remove dry soil. It is easier To remove many soils before they are mixed with cleaning Solutions. A two-motor vacuum is sufficient.

Apply your Pre-Spray

Apply Formula power with Citra or trashed II to the carpet using a sprayer. On heavily soiled olefin fibers use Slam as your Pre-Spray. A quality Pre-Spray will soften and loosen the soil for quicker more thorough cleaning. Agitate the carpet With a grandi groomer. This will work the solution into The carpet and the physical agitation will loosen the soil.

For heavily soiled carpet add a Citra d' limonene product, for example we sell Citra pure or Citra 90 pure commonly known as Citra solvent.

Now Start cleaning.

When you move furniture be sure you place the stands on foam blocks or use sticky tabs to protect from staining the carpet from rust. You can use the lift buddy to elevate the furniture, saves you from injury. In addition, protect the home by using corner guards or called wall buddy's. Be professional and your customers will be happy.

As a reminder on extremely dirty carpets you may need to apply high pH chemicals of over 10. For example makeup requires a ph of 12. Most other stains require pH of over 10. Some stains like coffee or tea require a low pH or any type of browning cased by incorrect pH level will require a acid rinse or a low ph of 2.2. You need to focus limiting the use of chemicals of over pH of 8. Neutral pH is 7. Over pH of 10 can cause some damge to the carpet fiber. If you use any high pH of over 10, make sure it's a pre-spray, and you better use a rinse formula like pixie powder or formula zero res as an acid rinse. This will assure or less the likely hood of any long term damage to the carpets.

Also pixie powder is a low pH of 2.2. use as a detergent for all of your cleaning. Super concentrated so very inexpensive solution. Pixie powder is the rinse method where you where you wash the dirt away That was loosened in the preconditioning phase.

Finish cleaning

No not yet, the final touch is the most important part of cleaning is Groom the carpet in one direction to remove wand marks And footprints. This creates a good visual impression but Even more importantly it aids drying by straightening and separating the fibers.

Now dry the carpets

Use air mover or be sure that ventilation is at optimum levels by opening Windows, turning on ceiling fans, turning on the heat or air conditioner, etc. If the customer has an evaporative cooler You may turn on the fan portion but don’t turn on the water Pump as this will slow drying by adding humidity.
